The 60th Malaysia Open Swimming Championships 2017 has just ended last weekend after a 4 day competition at Pusat Akuatik Stadium Hang Jebat, Melaka from 4th to 7th May, 2017. The event is a qualifying event for swimmers wishing to qualify to the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The KL junior swimmers gave a strong challenge to their senior competitors and proved that mental strength is indeed more superior than physical build.
Steve Khiew, 14 and Yumi Okuzono, only 13, have came top of the table by each claiming a gold in 200m backstroke and 200m butterfly respectively.
Keith Lim managed 2 silver and a bronze in his individual events having faced stiff competition from his national team trainees as well as swimmers abroad.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Soon and Brandy Chew each settled for a bronze in their respective pet events of 400m IM and 200m backstroke.
We congratulate all the winners.
